“if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog”. Are you kidding? Find out
I was reading some articles posted on CNN, Fox news(et a),l on reasons why presidents start ageing after assumption of office and this were the thought of one of the writers.
“It’s more than just a few flecks. President Barack Obama, who turned 50 in August, is definitely going gray. He’s said the color change runs in his family and has mentioned a grandfather who turned gray at 29”.
According to the explanations given by [Dr. Michael Roizen, of RealAge.com fame] after analyzing presidential medical records from the 1920s up to the time, “presidents age twice as fast as normal when they’re in office”
He attributed it to unrequited stress “they don’t have enough friends to mitigate the stress,” he said. The writer made reference to a statement by Harry Truman: “if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog”.
.But here is what research says a good relationship can do for you;
Research finds that staying connected to friends and relatives provides mental stimulation, which translates into better memory.
And to deal with ageing concerns,
Studies on 5,000 women showed that lack of sunlight during the colder months contributes to dark circles and puffiness, which can make a person’s eyes look nearly five years older.
An advice to presidents, politicians and to you is to get more outdoor time and get some natural light..
